HOW TO USE THIS BIBLIOGRAPHY

Research in the field of African American Children's Literature currently focuses on four main themes:

History and criticism of the "All-White World of Children's Literature" prior to the middle/late 20th Century;
African American literature for children, written by and for African Americans beginning in the late 19th Century;
Recommended reading lists and criteria for selection, and
